If your mixes need more punch, depth, clarity, life, space or other missing attributes that you hear on professionally produced commercial releases ... then you need the input of an experienced mix engineer's ears and skills.

Having worked alongside many talented artists/producers/engineers for a number of years in commercial studios (see resume), I really consider I have 'learned from the best' and mixing being an area where my experience and skills especially shine (borne out of being frequently asked to mix clients' projects, even when I was not specifically offering that service).

The first stage is to discuss what's required of the mix, establish understanding of the composer/artist/producer's vision, and where the track is targeted. Throughout the process my focus is to present the song/material in the best light AND produce a result that you are 100% happy with, interacting with you to achieve that as close as is realistically possible.
I will give feedback as to the quality of the recording and may suggest ways to make the end result better, but will always go with your decisions as to options and preferences.

Material should generally be submitted as multitracked audiofiles which can be aligned by a common sample-accurate start point (but if we are using the same DAW software we could agree to exchange those project files instead). It's also a useful idea to send me a MIDI-file of any programmed parts (for possible replacing, layering, etc.).

Work-in-progress will be emailed back as 'good quality' MP3s for feedback.
Submission and final delivery could be via physical media but I mostly use Drop Box at the moment.
I guarantee your audio will NOT be used for any other productions.

Gearwise I currently mostly use Logic Pro and Pro Tools platforms, augmented by hardware and software by the following: Apogee, Focusrite, TLA, Mackie, Dynaudio, Yamaha, Lexicon, Hafler, Mesa Boogie, Akai, Korg, Novation, Roland, SSL, Waves, Overloud, Audio Damage, Massey, Izotope, Roger Nichols Digital, Ohm Force, Native Instruments, Toontrack, Propellerheads, etc., including an evolving set of specially selected 'character'/'vintage' plug-ins and 'toys'.

QUOTE FROM 'TUNECORE' NEWSLETTER 31/10/08:
"[tip of the week:] The Value of A Good Mix by Cliff Goldmacher
Once you've decided to up the ante and put your music online for the world to hear, it's in your best interest to pay close attention to every step in the recording process. One of the most vital of these steps is the mix of your song. It's not enough to have well-written song and great musicians playing on it. You need a strong mix. The art of mixing (and make no mistake, it's an art) is not a skill everyone possesses. It's well worth your while, even if you've recorded your tracks yourself in your home studio, to seek out an experienced mixing engineer.

While there is no substitute for a dynamic, exciting musical performance, a good mix can enhance every aspect of that performance so that the final sonic result truly makes your song stand out. On the other hand, a poor mix can severely compromise even the best song and performance. Only you can write and sing your songs. That makes you an expert in those areas. However, unless you're also an expert mix engineer, I'd highly recommend going to someone who is."
